Resident Evil 4 remake announced with official release date

Resident Evil 4 has been remade for PlayStation, Xbox and Windows, 17 years on from the classic video game’s release, and we have the first trailer.

Set to hit shelves on March 24 next year, the official PS blog teases “state-of-the-art quality […] while preserving the essence of the original”.

Capcom also promises a “reimagining” of the storyline, which sends the action over to rural Spain for an all-new type of terror.

“Six years have passed since the biological disaster in Racoon City. Leon S Kennedy, one of the survivors, has been recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president.

“With the experience of multiple missions on his back, Leon is sent to rescue the kidnapped daughter of the president of the United States. He tracks her to a secluded European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the villagers.

“And the curtain rises on this story of gruelling survival horror and rescue.”

Elsewhere in this flesh-chewing multimedia franchise, the Netflix TV adaptation has recently confirmed its premiere date of Thursday, July 14.

Lance Reddick John Wick famous) stars as Albert Wesker, with Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), Tamara Smart (The Worst Witch), Siena Agudong (No Good Nick), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Paola Nuñez (The Purge) in supporting roles.

Set in 2036, the story picks up 14 years after the T-virus caused an apocalypse, rendering the planet a terrifying ruin.
