Overwatch 2’s newest hero, Junker Queen
In the new Overwatch 2 trailer, Junker Queen, a tank-class character, uses a shotgun as her primary weapon. She can also use a large two-handed ax for close-range melee attacks.
Junker Queen was designed for Overwatch 2’s 5v5 arena and also has an unrivaled ability to claim space, and she is terrifying up close.
This is what Junker Queen can pull off.
Based on the footage above, Junker Queen’s playstyle and kit were developed based on her pre-existing Overwatch lore.
Junker Queen was in Overwatch’s story long before we had a design for her kit, which meant she carried a lot of weight on her stately shoulders.
With that being said, let’s look at the design of her kit and see how she’ll play, according to play overwatch.
Adrenaline Rush is the foundation of Junker Queen’s tank identity. The passive ability heals her from all wound-related damage over time. Many of her abilities deal with wounds that slowly deplete enemies’ health.
Junker Queen’s character has always been depicted with an axe, so that was where her design began. Carnage is a large, sweeping swing that wounds all enemies in her path, dealing damage over time and activating Adrenaline Rush.
Junker Queen’s secondary fire is Jagged Blade, which has both active and passive abilities. When you press secondary fire, the active ability is triggered, causing her to throw the knife in her off-hand.
Junker Queen is equipped with Commanding Shout, an ability that increases her own survivability while also assisting her teammates around her, increasing the health and movement speed of both herself and any nearby allies.
Junker Queen’s ultimate move is Rampage. It propels her forward, inflicting severe wounds on enemies and preventing them from healing. It’s the first anti-healing ability since Ana’s Biotic Grenade.
Upon Overwatch 2’s release this fall, Junker Queen will be the 34th confirmed hero, following Sojourn, who was revealed in 2019.
Overwatch 2 will be released on the 4th of October 2022 and will be made available on the Nintendo Switch, playstation4, playstation5Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
