Today the nation celebrates National Heroes’ Day with the main commemorative program held at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
President Benigno S. Aquino III was guest of honor and led the wreath-laying ceremony that started at 8AM.
The program begun with the customary arrival honors rendered by the AFP to the President then followed by the flower offering. Col. Ernesto Cimatu of the Philippine Army led the opening prayer with Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano then gave a welcome message. National Historical Commission (NHCP) Chair Dra. Maria Serena I. Diokno delivered a short message then Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin introduced the president.
The event was attended by the diplomatic corps, WW II veterans, members of the armed forces, different government agencies, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines and some residents of the City of Taguig.
